Celebrate the holidays with these festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks featuring a creamy spinach dip layered between cheesy pizza dough, twisted into tree-shaped spirals, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a party appetizer or savory snack.

Ingredients

Spinach Dip

  • 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Breadsticks

  • 2 cans refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll sheets
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Prepare Spinach Dip: In a mixing bowl, combine the thawed and drained chopped spinach, softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Mix until creamy and well combined.
  3. Roll Out First Dough Triangle: Roll out one sheet of the refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll sheet into a large triangle shape directly on the prepared baking sheet. Trim any excess dough and set aside the trimmings.
  4. Spread Spinach Dip: Evenly spread the prepared spinach dip mixture over the triangle dough base, ensuring full coverage to about the edges.
  5. Roll Out Second Dough Triangle: Roll out the second sheet of dough into a matching large triangle shape and carefully place it on top of the spinach dip covered base dough.
  6. Cut Dough Branches: Using a sharp knife, cut horizontal strips on both sides of the triangle, leaving the center triangle intact. These cuts will form the 'branches' of the Christmas tree.
  7. Twist the Branches: Twist each strip away from the center triangle to form spiral branches, giving the breadstick tree its festive look.
  8. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Brush the entire tree with the beaten egg wash to give it a shiny golden finish when baked. Bake the breadstick tree in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Finish and Serve: Once baked, immediately brush the breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle Italian seasoning and additional grated Parmesan cheese over the top for extra flavor. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to thoroughly drain the spinach to prevent soggy dough layers.
  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean, even cuts.
  • You can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt for a tangier dip.
  • Serve warm for best texture and flavor.
  • Leftover breadsticks can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispness.
