Delightful Piped Cream Cheese Mints are a perfect refreshing treat for every celebration. These creamy, peppermint-flavored mints are easy to prepare, piped into small decorative shapes, and dried to a delicate texture that melts in your mouth. Vibrant colors can be added with gel food coloring, making them ideal for festive occasions or as charming homemade gifts.

Ingredients

For the Base

  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp softened butter
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract

For the Sweetness

  • 5 cups confectioners' sugar

For the Color

  • food coloring (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Combine Cream Cheese and Butter: In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat 8 oz of softened cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of softened butter until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add Peppermint Extract: Mix in 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract on low speed until fully incorporated, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add Confectioners' Sugar: Gradually add 5 cups of confectioners' sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add Food Coloring (Optional): Divide the mixture into separate bowls and add gel food coloring drop by drop, mixing gently until the desired colors are achieved.
  5. Pipe the Mints: Prepare a parchment-lined baking sheet. Transfer the mint mixture into a piping bag and pipe small dots onto the parchment paper.
  6. Dry the Mints: Allow the piped mints to dry at room temperature for 24 hours until firm and set.
  7. Store the Mints: Gently peel the mints off the parchment and store them in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese and butter are softened to room temperature for easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant, non-runny colors; liquid coloring may alter the consistency.
  • Pipe small dots or shapes for quicker drying and better presentation.
  • Store mints in an airtight container to prevent them from drying out or absorbing moisture.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, reduce confectioners' sugar slightly, but it may affect consistency.
